Red Comes Unglued without Drew

An obviously sage, but unidentified, poster stated that Chase Drew was the glue that held the Red team together, and that was proven through-and-through in their match up against Gray.

The Red team had trouble showing up on time, with Captain Cuthbert pulling out all the tricks, including a pre-game bathroom break in an attempt to delay the start of the game. The opening whistle blew with Red a man down, but that lasted for only a minute as another player showed up, but legendary keeper Chuck Kim was not yet on the field. Gray was able to capitalize early on Kim's absence, with Dale Pressley sneaking an early goal between the legs of the interim keeper. Kim arrived shortly thereafter to assume his rightful place in goal, and with Drew anchoring the defense and taking the majority of the goal kicks, the remainder of the first half was scoreless with Gray leading at the break 1-0.

In the second half, however, the situation changed immeasurably. Shortly after the break defender extraordinaire Chase Drew went down to his knees believing that he had been kicked in the calf. With no Gray shirts nearby, it was apparent that Red's over-reliance on Drew in the first half had finally taken its toll on his aging physique. Drew was forced to the sidelines with a game ending injury, and Gray began their onslaught. Gray scored five goals in the second half to a single score by Red and handily controlled and won the game.

Gray was helped mightily this week by Daryl Wolfe who didn't kick the ball out of bounds even a single time, and even went to his knees in a near miss head shot on the goal that leaves this reporting wondering why he didn't use his foot. A veritable contingent of Gray team members scored including Pressley, Trieste, and Joynt. Aside from losing their glue, Red was undoubtedly hindered further by the absence of Jennifer Jackson on offense.

With their victory, Gray assumes first place in the regular season with a record of 4-1, matched only by Black - who were also victorious in their pairing with White. Only overall goal differential separates the two teams and sets up another 1 vs. 2 match for next week.

Talk to Iyad after the game and the physical therapist today. Ruptured a small, nothing muscle that runs up the middle of the calf. It is no big deal and should be back in 2-3 weeks. It already feels a ton better. I look forward to our next match so I can show you how old I and your goat!

is that elmer drew talking? didnt they lose 6 to 1 to the inept GRAY? is he going to be out the same time as the Union Jack? Bad luck for red.

Dunno about all yall, but with or without Mr. Drew out there, word has it that Mr. Cuthbert will be out of the net here the next few weeks. Is this true? If so, red looks to have a tuff one with white, then blue, then black? Looks as if playoffs will have to be where they settle in...With a lack of momentum getting there, limping in (no pun intended there Chase,)could be the only able thing that red is capable of doing...Hmmmm, Gray vs. Black this week should tell how the season will shape up.

My prediction: Dale 4 Black 1

why are we even discussing red. I think we should redo the schedule and let red play green every week for the rest of the season. That way it will at least be a good close game for both teams.

Because with the big mouth leaders on Red, they are just more interesting than quite efficient Josh, a midget, and a group of guys who are always talking about us behind our back in another language!!!
