Noris God to the rescue in Red versus White

The talk all week was that White was going to walk all over Red in Sunday's game. Red was going to be missing their Captain who was to be at the airport picking up his Mum. They were also going to be missing the so called "team glue" in loud mouth defensive stalwart Chase. But Alex Cuthbert, Paul's wife, had other ideas.

Faced with a looming visit from her mother in law Alex decided to take a new route in preventing this age old nightmare. She decided to pray to the Norris God of protective guardianship, Hlin. And Hlin responded in a way that only a Norris God might. Hlin voiced her frustration through the eruption of the icelandic volcano Eyjafjallajokull. The eruption has disrupted travel world wide. Grounding planes and stranding millions of Europeans, including Paul's Mum.

Due to this saving grace for Alex, and for Red, Paul was able to play. And play he did, taking his grief over his missing Mum out on Kevin and the White team. Some might say white was missing two of its better players. That their captain was not up to par. Or that they had to start short handed. But Red had to play short handed in its only loss and no one has accepted those complaints. Besides that, 7 of the 9 goals were scored after white had 7 players on the field.

No, excuses don't account for Red's highest scouring output of the season. This win is for Alex and her new goddess Hlin. And thanks to these prayers Paul's mum wont be in anytime soon. Meaning he will be available for both Satrday and Sundays games. If he isn't too old to heal, the team "glue" Chase should also be back, although super keeper Chuck may miss their matchup with Blue.

Team Red is already pushing for Alex to take up prayers to both Ulr, the god of glory, and Eir, the goddess of medicine. As the only team to beat black, with a little Norris inspiration they may just return to first place after this weekends games!

I think that the Norris God's name is actually "Chuck," and the Norse God's name is Hlin.

Red didn't play short handed in their only loss. They were a man down for one minute and no scores occurred. The only excuse for that loss was the injury to Drew which clearly had significant ramifications for the team. I've heard that there is talk about taking up a collection to purchase a statue or plaque to commemorate the day this valiant warrior was so mercilessly struck down in the heat of battle.

Red was short Chuck for the first goal while Chris and Kevin were missing for the whole game. With me (chase) going out at the start of the 2nd half the team was short some combination of its 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th draft pick for 40 of the 70 minutes. That is short handed even if they had 7 players for most of the game. How would any other team fair under the same circumstances?

sorry, I was wrong. Some combination of its 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th choice. My Bad!

Gold will be ready for their rematch with Red...Gold tied them with important players missing from the match while Red had their whole team present...only time will tell!!!

Gold has the luck of the Irish going right now, how long can it last???

'Barnyard' isn't any Irish name I ever heard of. If anything, you could attribute recent success to the ageless one Russ (also not Irish). But to stay in theme; "Me thinks their pot of gold will runneth dry against the bloody Redcoats!"

run dry? does a pot of gold have more worth when it is wet? Stick with playing soccer - a.k.a. the game for kids who can't catch - and stop mixing your metaphors.

The leaping Leprechaun of yore can keep the scoring low...but if they cant get a more reliable source of goals even his magic pot isnt going to carry him forever!
